(Updated on May 11, 2012)

Well, it’s been over two years since I started this blog so I though I should update the about me.

September of 2011, I had a fairly traumatic life event occur, some of you already know about it.  After my grief was over a spark lit off in my head.  In October I joined the fitness website MyFitnessPal, realized I was over-eating so no matter how much walking and running I did I was never going to lose weight.  I started eating less, and started eating healthier and the weight started to melt off.

I registered for my first Half Marathon and began my training.   I had gotten out of running for a while but was getting back into it.  I completed a 5K training program and ran a 5K in November, then dived into the Half Marathon trainer.

My 2012 year end report should be called “Off to the Races”.  I’ve run 7 races so far this year and will end up running 14-15.

On March 4th, 2012 I completed my first Half Marathon, the Rock and Roll New Orleans Half Marathon with a finishing time of 3:11:18.

I’m currently weighing in at around 263 pounds, getting very close to 100 pounds lost from my heaviest of 355.

My journey is far from over, but for once I’m enjoying the ride.  I love working out, I’m addicted to running, I don’t mind counting my calories and I love seeing that needle on the scale dropping further and further below 300.

Join me in my journey Running From The Past.

  • About Me

I am a recent graduate in Food Science (NC State, 2009) and I work for a major food manufacturing company. I love food, but I can no longer eat anything that crosses my path. About 24 months ago I begin a serious struggle to get my obesity under control and reduce my chances of developing Type II diabetes. Since September of '09 I have lost 50 pounds and I still have a long ways to go. I've started eating better and exercising more, including taking up running.
