Weekly Recap 7-30-12 to 8-5-12

Well finally a normal week! No crazy stuff at work to take away from other things, no missed workouts, and even managed a little bit of socializing this week.  Group run and dinner in Kannapolis with my buddies down there, and then movie and dinner with a gym buddy and her family here in Winston.  Kept my eating more under control this week, even with two nights out.  No alcohol this week (besides the very small wine tasting portions), and not because I chose to purposefully abstain… just don’t have any in the house at the moment.. cleaned myself out last week it would seem.  Bottle of wine from the race Saturday did solve that problem, however it is being saved for something.

Starting weight – 256.2
Monday – Spin – 50 minutes
Tuesday – Run – 3 miles
Wednesday – Yoga – 60 minutes
Thursday – Run – 2.5 miles
Friday – REST
Saturday – Race – 5K trail race
Sunday – Yoga – 60 minutes + Weightlifting – 30 minutes
Total Mileage – 8.6 miles
Ending Weight – 254.0 (2.2 pounds lost)

So… good an bad on the weight loss front this week.  Good that I saw a good loss.  Bad is that I didn’t lose back all I gained last week, so not all of it was “salty food water retention” weight.  Unless I’m still holding on to some, which I guess is possible.  Also good to get back under the 100 pounds lost threshold.

Good Eat of the Week:
I was very surprised to see no bananas at the end of my race on Saturday, they are usually such a post race staple, but they had all manner of other fruit, apple slices, peaches, plums, and most appropriate, grapes.  Was nice for a change.  Grabbed a big old bunch of grapes and a bottle of ice cold water and cooled off after my trail run.  Sometimes it is the little things.



  1. Nice job this week! I think I am going to stick with running just for the refreshments at the end of the race… 🙂

    • And the good thing is, you don’t feel bad about eating them!

    I am a recent graduate in Food Science (NC State, 2009) and I work for a major food manufacturing company. I love food, but I can no longer eat anything that crosses my path. About 24 months ago I begin a serious struggle to get my obesity under control and reduce my chances of developing Type II diabetes. Since September of '09 I have lost 50 pounds and I still have a long ways to go. I've started eating better and exercising more, including taking up running.
